Onward and Upward

SO... guess where we are now?? Yes, LONDON!!! Before I tell you more I just want to post a couple more picture from the Queen Mary, since internet isn't costing us a fortune anymore!

I thought you might be interested in what our stateroom looked like...

It's smaller in real life. Or at least it felt that way. We had to keep moving the latter around... it kept getting in the way! And I lost track of how many times I hit my head.

This is the hall on our floor...

It took Madeline and I three minutes to walk down it. We weren't going very slow, either! If you don't think that's long, time yourself and walk in a straight line for three minutes. It's pretty much the length of the ship!

On Saturday we did a tour of the galleys. Man, that was COOL! There were multiple hallways as long as this one... it was SOOOO big!!!

It was really neat to see behind the scenes of what was going on at dinner!

We're sure going to miss this ship... we're already lamenting it! We had such a nice table... we became really close with the other two couples who ate with us. And we met such nice people... and man, I'll miss our waiters! They're so much fun, as they get to know you more they joke around with you and stuff. I'm so sad to leave the QM2, but onward we go!

So we got of the ship at about 9:00 this morning and took a taxi to the Southampton train station and then took a train to the London Waterloo Station. We took another taxi to the youth hostel that we're staying at, then we went outside and walked around. We are in England!!

This is Fortnum and Mason, the Queen's official department store!! It was really cool inside, and really expensive!

Here we are at Trafalgar Square!!! There are a lot more tourists than I thought there would be... but you can still here a lot of British accents, which is what I'm here for!

And this is the National Gallery (taken from the monument we're sitting on). That was SO COOL!!!! We saw paintings by Titian, Michelangelo, and da Vinci!!!!

And here I am standing in front of the London Eye and Big Ben. What a thought.

It still kinda feels like a dream, especially since we've been on the water for the past week. We had supper at a pub (my dad got two beers) and now we're back at the hostel. Let's see what tomorrow brings!

  1. Hi ~ this is Daniel and Emily (and our Mom!) ... we are reading your blog as a bedtime story. It is amazing to read of all your adventures. Daniel would like to know if you went on the London Eye and did you go up the Big Ben? Our Mom laughed at your close living quarters in the QM2 ... hope your head is okay!! :-) You sure looked beautiful for the Black and White Ball. Your eyes show how happy you are and the fun you are having! Emily wants to know if you are going to go by where the Queen lives? She thought the galleys where they did all the cooking was COOL! Love to your family. The Anderson's
