Seeing The Sights

Hey everybody! Lots has happened since our last post. We have seen so many famous places and got lost a few times. So here's some pictures to show just some of the things we did.

On Monday we got to meet up with our awesome cousin Jessica! Since she was staying just outside of London we got to spend the whole day with her! Too bad it was only a day but we'll see her again when we meet up with her October 12 in Venice!

So in the morning we got to see The Tower of London! Oh my goodness sooo cool! We were able to take a tour around and got to find out some interesting facts. Also if you have seen any posters for The Tower of London our yeoman tour guide is on it! While we were there we saw the crown jewels which were held in the White Tower! It was one of my favorite things we did in London.

After that we took a boat down the Thames from The Tower to Westminster bridge. Got to see some beautiful sights and passed under many different bridges that span the Thames.

We then went to the British Museum which was, of course, really awesome. Got to see the Rosetta Stone, Parthenon sculptures and an Easter Island Statue! One could spend all day there.

We then did some more walking and went to Hyde park! It was so beautiful and large. But since everyone was getting  hungry we didn't spend to much time there until we were off on a hunt for a pub.

So the next day we started off with a bus tour around London! It took about an hour and a half and we saw the major sights of London with a really good commentary. We saw the clock tower, the Tower of London, St. Paul's cathedral  and went over the London bridge and the Tower bridge!

We then got dropped of at Buckingham Palace to see the changing of the guard! So many people were there. It lasted about an hour or so with lots of marching and music!

We then saw Westminster Abbey! Unfortunately you weren't able to take pictures in most of it. But it was kind of liberating since you could never capture the beauty of it all. It was so amazing being in there with all the history that has happened. There are so many kings and queens of England buried there including Elizabeth I, Edward the Confessor, Mary I, and Henry III! There was also a place called Poet's Corner there were Chaucer, Dickens and Handel! Also David Livingstone is there along with so many others! Another of my favorite places!

We also went to the British Library! But the room we went into, Treasure Room, you weren't allowed photography so we have no photos. Sorry just boring dialogue. We saw works done by Shakespeare, Handel, Mozart, Beethoven, da Vinci, Jane Austin, and The Beatles! We also saw letters to and from British royalty including Elizabeth I and Oliver Cromwell! We also got to see the Magna Carta! So amazing!

Love walking about London and taking cabbies. I'm already missing London. But we are right now waiting in the airport for our flight to Belfast! Quite excited for a less rushed time! We will probably post something again tomorrow or the next day. Until then cheerio!
