About The Heydes

We are a family of 5 ... us two sisters, our brother, and our parents. We thought a while back that we should take a trip to Europe. Our brother was married on August 3rd, so now it's the four of us who are going and we are meeting our cousin Jessica partway through the trip. We will be gone from September 21st to October 21st. These are the recordings of our endeavors, by Sarah and Madeline.

Here is the itinerary of our Europe trip:


  • Sep 21-Plane to New York (USA). Stay 1 night.
  • 22- Board Queen Mary II. 7 nights.
  • 29- Arrive in Southampton (England). Train to London (England). 3 nights.
  • Oct 2- Train to Liverpool (England). Plane to Belfast (Ireland). 2 nights.
  • 4- Plane to Leeds (England). Train to Hull (England). Overnight ferry to Zeebrugge (Belgium).
  • 5- Arrive Zeebrugge. 1 night in Bruges (Belgium).
  • 6- Train to Frankfurt (Germany). Pick up rental car. Drive to Bacharach (Germany). 2 nights.
  • 8- Drive back to Frankfurt. Train to Salzburg (Austria). 3 nights.
  • 11- Train to Vienna (Austria). Overnight train to Venice (Italy).
  • 12- Arrive Venice. Meet up with Jessica. 3 nights.
  • 15- Train to Rome (Italy). Train to Civitavecchia (Italy). Overnight ferry to Barcelona (Spain).
  • 16- Arrive Barcelona. 2 nights.
  • 18- Plane to Paris (France). 3 nights.
  • 21- Fly home(Canada!!).

    Great blog! I look forward to "taking the trip with you", but still demanding postcards!! especially from the Queen Mary (where do they postmark that? middle of the ocean?) Evelyn

      Glad you like it! Yes, Madeline and I were talking about how we need to send postcards to you! We'll try do one from every country, and for sure from the Queen Mary.
